Thanksgiving

Every year at Thanksgiving, we travel an hour away to visit my grandma, whom my kids call "Nana Lee". Nana Lee is my only grandparent still living and is my mom's mother. It's always a time of reflection for me to be at her house, because it's very obvious to both of us who's missing and all the memories of Thankgiving gatherings of the past come flooding back. She told me while we were visiting that she was thinking about my mom...well, so was I. My grandma is one of the strongest people I know. She lost my aunt and my mom within 3 years of each other (her 1st and 2nd daughters, she has 7 children) and my grandpa died just 4 years ago. She grieves, but she's tough. Her health isn't the best, but she doesn't give up. She is amazing to me. Two of my mom's brothers and two of her sisters were there too along with one of her cousins that I had never met. It was a packed house but a nice get-together. It doesn't have to be Thanksgiving - I'm so thankful for my family, friends and so many other blessings every day of the year.
