Oh how I love Mod Podge!!

Since Anna is 8 years old now, she has decided she would like to redo her room as part of her Christmas this year to make it more of a "tween"-like room instead of what she thinks is a "baby" room. Her room hasn't changed (except for the bed) since she was a baby. I thought it was a great idea and we've been having a lot of fun planning what we want to do in the most inexpensive way. She has chosen the ever popular zebra and pink motif as her primary theme. This weekend, we started with painting and mod podging what we call her "Guatemala shelf" - it's a 2-shelf hutch that we actually hang on her wall and she puts all of her special things from Guatemala on it. We used scrapbook papers in a variety of black and white and pink prints and mod podge!

So here's some "before" pictures:

The "after" pictures once we painted it:

Putting the finishing touches on...

And now the finished ends:

We love the way it turned out. This was my first time doing something like this. I was inspired by my sister-in-law Pamela and niece Ann who are always doing something funky-cool (haha) in Ann's room. :)

The top 4 reasons I will Mod Podge again (in no particular order!):

1. Very Inexpensive...Mod Podge glue $6.99 Hobby Lobby, Scrapbook papers (50% off at Hobby Lobby - 28 sheets) $6.00. (I already had the white paint). And it's like having a new piece of furniture!

2. Easy...Since it's your own creation, you really can't make a mistake.

3. Fun with my girl...This was something Anna and I could do together. She helped me sand the shelf and paint. She helped cut the paper into shapes, and she helped brush on the mod podge.

4. No stress...how can you mess it up?? You can't!!

Stay tuned...next weekend, we will redo another piece of her furniture!
